Hi, I'm Tom Roznowski. Welcome to Hometown!
Hometown is an audio walking tour of Terre Haute,
Indiana in the summer of 1926. At that time, Terre Haute
was known as the "Crossroads of America" because
of its location at the juncture of two great national highways:
US Route 40 and US Route 41. Actually, I've found Terre
Haute to be a "Crossroads" in a much larger sense.
It represents an enduring American cultural icon: the classic
American Midwestern hometown, and all of the images it brings
to mind of past and present. Over the course of our journey,
I hope to present both the fact and fiction behind the myth.
I think you'll find that between the door-to-door milk deliveries,
the minor league baseball games, and corner groceries, there
is a lot that's familiar, no matter where you may come from.
Won't you join me in exploring Hometown?
Production support for Hometown comes from Brian Lappin Real Estate
and the South Dunn Street Project.
